Napa Valley Winery Bike Tour from Calistoga

Napa Valley Winery Bike Tour from Calistoga

Napa Valley Winery Bike Tour from Calistoga

Napa Valley Winery Bike Tour from Calistoga -- One of our most popular trips. This is an off the beaten path look at the scenic upper Napa Valley. You'll travel along country lanes to small, family owned wineries that truly represent the Napa Valley.

We've selected wineries - large and small, historic and modern, smaller "one man shows" to extraordinary "Shrines to Wine". Along the way you'll taste Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon among others. You'll tour a winery to see how grapes are made into wine, as well as a champagne cellar to see how Champagne is made. All in all, you'll travel 10 to 17 miles over mostly flat, easy terrain.

Typical Itinerary
We come together in Calistoga at 9:30 am. This allows you ample time to finish your B&B breakfast or make the drive up from virtually anywhere in the Northern California region. We then fit you to a Specialized Hybrid bike along with a helmet, bag, and comfortable gel-seat. Your guide goes over the "Rules of the Road" as well as how to operate the bike.

We're off at about 10:00 am. Your guide will explain the sights and local wine facts and history as we travel the quiet country lanes to our first winery stop. After a tour of the grounds we taste the wine and then move on to our second winery where we are often able to enjoy a private barrel tasting. We cycle along easy and flat roads to our third winery and picnic spot.

Dining with us is quite an event. Shade oaks provide a canopy with views of the valley. Enjoy a wine country lunch, with a menu that typically includes: pesto pasta salad, local organic salad greens, fresh baked bread, artisan cheeses, seasonal fruit, and desert. It is a great stop with time for a quick game of Bocce ball or a power nap.

This location is home to one of Napa's oldest champagne producers. It is a great stop with a short, fun, and informative tour that compliments the still traditional wineries. After the tour you'll taste up to 5 different styles of champagne.

After our lunch we return to our bikes rested and recharged. We continue down the tail. Our ride is framed by the Palisades mountains on one side and the vines on the other as we head to our next winery. We call this winery the "Shrine to Wine" for its superb collection of art and antiquities, as well as intriguing architecture and excellent wines.

After a tasting, we return to Calistoga, arriving around 3:30 pm. Here we bid you farewell and thank you for riding with us!
